Ghanaian artist Ibrahim Mahama’s The Harvest Season is scheduled to open at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in Paris on 22 October 2026, continuing until 28 February 2027.
The exhibition brings Mahama together with nine invited artists and collectives. Contributors include Dorothy Akpene Amenuke, Gideon Appah, James Barnor and Zohra Opoku. New site-specific works and reworked installations will occupy the Fondation’s new spaces.
The project draws on the art centres Mahama established in Tamale, where exhibitions, learning and shared resources form part of the same cultural activity. Its materials and archives connect questions of work, trade and historical memory.
Our reading: this is a useful reminder that Ghana’s international artistic presence is also built through institutions and relationships at home. Looking beyond the individual artwork helps reveal the teaching, collaboration and local knowledge behind an exhibition of this scale.
Upcoming: Fondation Cartier, 2 place du Palais-Royal, Paris. Check the organiser’s website for visiting details.
