Cornelius Annor’s solo exhibition What Stains, What Stays opened at Gallery 1957 in Accra on 24 September and runs until 7 November 2026. Curated by Ato Jackson, it brings family photographs and everyday objects into conversation with painting.
Annor uses photographic albums and found images as starting points, then changes their atmosphere through colour and material. Pigment transferred from African textiles leaves delicate traces on the canvas. Furniture and sculptures by his late father extend the exhibition’s exploration of inheritance beyond the painted surface.
For visitors interested in Ghanaian contemporary art, this is an opportunity to look closely at how a picture is made. A textile mark, a familiar interior or a gesture can carry a history without explaining it outright. The exhibition invites that slower kind of looking.
On view: Gallery II, Gallery 1957, Accra, until 7 November 2026.
